A community‑spirited four‑year‑old girl has been praised after carrying out her very own beach clean on Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront this week.
Ruby Lansdown, who was visiting her grandparents in the town over the Easter holidays, decided to swap building sandcastles for collecting litter when she spotted rubbish scattered along the sand near the jetty.
Armed with her bucket, Ruby set about clearing the beach — and in total filled six buckets with discarded items before disposing of them correctly.

Her mum, Lauren, says she’s incredibly proud of Ruby’s determination to help look after the coastline.
“It’s wonderful to truly celebrate my 4‑year‑old daughter’s independence and love for our planet and beaches,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“She independently decided to use her bucket to collect rubbish from the beach on Monday instead of playing in the sand.”

“She was frustrated people had littered and in total picked up six buckets of litter and disposed correctly. We are so proud of her.”
Ruby, who lives in Bristol, has been praised by locals, with many calling her an inspiration and thanking her for helping to keep Burnham’s beaches tidy.
