Plans for 250 new homes in Isleport Lane, Highbridge to be unveiled at public meeting

-

A public meeting is to be held later this month where controversial proposals for 250 new homes alongside Isleport Lane in Highbridge are set to be unveiled.

Residents will be able to have their say on the plans at a public consultation meeting on Thursday November 29th in Highbridge Community Hall from 3pm-7pm.

Bickenhall Consulting, acting on behalf of the developers, has written to local residents, inviting them to attend the open meeting.

“Bickenhall Consulting is proposing to create approximately 250 new homes at this site next to the M5 which is included in the draft of the Sedgemoor Local Plan,” says a spokesman.

“Sedgemoor District Council has identified a need to build 13,530 homes in the district between 2011 and 2032.”

When Sedgemoor’s local plan was debated by town councillors last year, Highbridge councillors said the town “is being over-developed to the hilt” with new homes.

Many Highbridge residents have told local councillors that the town urgently needs improved public services such as a new school, GP surgery and dentist, before hundreds of new homes are built in the town.

Those unable to attend the open meeting will be able to view the proposals online here from November 29th.
