One person was taken to hospital following a serious multi-vehicle collision that closed the M5 motorway between Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater on Monday evening (August 10th).
Police said all traffic was held between Burnham’s junction 22 and Bridgwater’s junction 23 following the crash at around 5.25pm. It re-opened just before 7pm.
A Police spokesman says: “The M5 carriageway was closed in both directions between J22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and J23 (Bridgwater) following a four-vehicle collision.”
“One person was taken to hospital with injuries which were thought to be life-changing.”
Emergency services were on scene for several hours, including the air ambulance, to help those affected.
National Highways reported long delays in both directions and on diversion roads as traffic sought to get around the incident.
