A woman was rescued by emergency crews on Brean beach on Saturday (April 25th) after suffering a suspected broken ankle in a fall on the rocks at the bottom of Brean Down.
Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards, Weston Coastguards, the ambulance service and a BARB hovercraft were called to the soft sand next to Brean Down where the woman was in difficulty.
She had been walking along the base of the Down when she had twisted and injured her ankle, leaving her unable to move and in pain. The alarm was raised and Brean’s beach warden quickly alerted the emergency services.
Paramedics treated the casualty on the beach before she was carefully lifted onto a stretcher by the Coastguard and BARB crewmembers.
She was taken onto a waiting ambulance and transported to Weston General hospital.
Coastguards praised the swift actions of the beach warden and thanked members of the public for keeping clear while the rescue took place, adding that they wish the casualty a swift recovery.
