Dozens of dancers will hold a day-long spectacle on Burnham-On-Sea seafront today (Saturday, July 17th) when they take part in a special event for a cancer charity.
‘Dance On The Beach’ will be held near the jetty from 11am-4pm on a specially-built, covered outdoor stage that will allow the event to proceed whatever the weather.
The event is being organised in aid of Somerset Breakthrough Breast Cancer by Highbridge’s Lucy Gunter Dance and Theatre Arts Centre.
“There will be street dance crews, boys dance groups, ballet, modern dance, tap dance, jive, pop songs and musicals,” principal Lucy Gunter told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“A large cast from five years old upwards will be performing throughout the day and it will all be in aid of a great cause.”
Christine Piper from Somerset Breakthrough added: “We’re delighted to be supporting Lucy Gunter Dance Centre. It should be a really fun event and we hope everyone will join in.”
“Our group will be collecting donations for the charity and also promoting breast cancer awareness. We as a group have a very personal reason for fundraising this year because one of our group members died from breast cancer recently.”
