A dental practice in Highbridge is withdrawing its service due to “difficulties in recruiting dentists and ongoing running costs.”

Mydentist, based in Market Street, has sent letters to its patients this week explaining the reason for the shock move.

“The dental practice will no longer be providing dental services with effrect from September 30th and will cease providing NHS services.”

“The reason for this decision is a result of difficulties experienced in recruiting dentists and ongoing running costs, which have prevented the practice from operating sustainably.”

“This decision has not been taken lightly and we are very sorry we are no longer able to provide dental services at this practice.”

“It is anticipanted that all open courses of treatment will be completed or appropriately refferred by September 30th and we will be contacting you shortly to arrange appointments.”

There are other dental pratices in Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow, but the removal of the Highbridge service will put a strain on local availability amid growing numbers of patients.

Urgent dental concerns should be directed to the NHS Dental Helpline on 111 or the Somerset Dental Helpline on 0300 123 7691.
