Dog fouling offender fined in Burnham-On-Sea’s Apex Leisure Park

-

Dog wardens are stamping down on pet owners who allow their animals to foul community spaces in Burnham-On-Sea.

Sedgemoor District Council has this week prosecuted a resident for failing to pick up after his pet at Apex Leisure Park in the town.

The owner was handed a £50 fine with £35 costs – but the maximum penalty is £1,000 for persistent offenders.

“The sight of dog’s mess in Sedgemoor’s parks, beaches and open spaces is offensive to many residents and visitors who look forward to walks in the park, on the beach or in the great outdoors,” a council spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“That is why the council takes fouling very seriously and will prosecute when there is sufficient evidence.”

She added: “Councillors and staff at Sedgemoor District Council get many, many complaints about dog fouling across the district.”
