Over 50 dog owners and their pets competed for top honours at a dog show held in East Huntspill on Sunday (June 18th).

The West of England Dachshund Association organised the event, The Companion Dog Show, which was held at East Huntspill Village Hall in aid of The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

“It was wonderful day, really hot, but there was plenty of shade under the trees and gazebos,” said Tony Rees, one of the organisers.

“We had 50 dogs and over a hundred enteries with lots of rosettes and prizes being awarded to the best entries.”

“The raffle saw lots of dog toys and dog treats being won. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance had a stall and they had lots of support.”

Judge Angie Rollinson assessed the child handling classes and chose 1st Will Hooper with Sofia, 2nd Jamie Cross with Tinkerbelle.

In the novelty classes, 1st prize went to Lorna from West Huntspill with Willow, and 2nd was Will Hooper with Sofia.

Best in Show was Julia Lock with Lana, while Reserve best in Show was Wendy Richards with Fosse, and Best Puppy was P Moore with Gibbson.
