Flowers laid in memory of Dylan, three years after Burnham tragedy

Flowers were laid in Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday evening (August 19th) in memory of a four year-old boy who drowned after falling from the town’s jetty exactly three years ago.

Dylan Cecil died in the sea on August 19th 2012 and his grandparents were among those who left flowers next to a plaque at the top of the jetty just before 6pm, the exact time of the tragedy.

A bouquet was also left next to the Sailing Club pontoons where the youngster’s body was eventually found washed up.

A number of safety improvements have been made to the jetty by Sedgemoor District Council since then, including extra warning signs around the jetty, a new audible warning system, and an enhanced beach lifeguard service.
