Burnham-On-Sea traders boosted by busy Easter holiday weekend

-

Burnham-On-Sea businesses enjoyed a bumper Easter holiday weekend thanks to good weather leading to an influx of visitors.

Temperatures reached 15.5°C (60°F) on Bank Holiday Monday with beaches and the town centre busy during the first main holiday of the year.

Many shops in Burnham town centre reported brisk trade – with several traders saying it had been one of their best Easter holidays.

Ron Bashford at Truckles food shop said: “It’s been busy over the Easter break – there were plenty of visitors and it was a positive weekend of trade.”

Sue Barber at Bessie’s Sweet Shoppe added: “We’ve been very busy all four days – it’s great to see shoppers supporting Burnham’s independent stores. It’s been a really busy weekend.”

Phil Hemming at Home Hardware said: “We have been very busy throughout the weekend – there were lots of people venturing out into their gardens for the first time this year, which helped us.”

Pat Bentle at Shoe Zone added: “It’s been a really busy four-day holiday period. It was good to see the visitors spending as well.”

Janet Probert at the With Love gift shop in the High Street also reported good trade. “It’s been a positive weekend – trade was particularly good on Thursday and Friday in the run-up to Easter for us, but there were still plenty of browsers over the weekend.”

Colin Morris at GW Hurley added: “It’s been a fair weekend – there were lots of people in the town, although they were not all spending. Overall, it was a good Easter, though.”
