Crews from Burnham‑On‑Sea Fire Station, Burnham RNLI and BARB Search & Rescue teamed up on Saturday morning to become volunteer marshals at the town’s Parkrun.
Volunteers from the three organisations filled the six marshal positions along the route, offering encouragement and guidance to the participants.
Parkrun director Reg Huxtable thanked them for their support, describing it as “great community engagement with the town’s emergency services.”
Before the run began, representatives from Burnham Fire Station, Burnham RNLI and BARB spoke to the assembled runners, giving an overview of their work and explaining how new volunteers can get involved. The RNLI also offered timely sea‑safety advice ahead of the busy summer holiday season.
Organisers said the presence of the three groups added an extra special atmosphere to the weekly event and highlighted the strong links between Burnham’s emergency services and the local community.
