A police helicopter and multiple emergency crews were called to Highbridge on Wednesday evening (April 15th) following concerns that someone had been seen in the River Brue.
Fire crews and the ambulance service joined Police in Homestead Avenue after a member of the public reported a possible sighting in the water.
A Police spokeswoman told Burnham‑On‑Sea.com: “Just after 8.30pm on Wednesday 15th April, officers carrying out enquiries in the Highbridge area were approached by a member of the public reporting that they thought they had seen someone in the River Brue.”

“The officers immediately diverted to the location of the sighting, Homestead Avenue, and carried out searches, supported by the fire and rescue service and the National Police Air Service helicopter.”
She added that no casualty was found and the incident is believed to have been a false alarm, made with good intent.
