A special screening of a hit movie was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Monday (October 14th) to raise money for the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade oversees the annual switch-on event in the town centre, which this year takes place on Saturday November 23rd.

Burnham’s Ritz Cinema in Victoria Street hosted a special fundraising screening of the hit film Bohemian Rhapsody to help raise funds for the display on Monday, which was attended by over 40 people.

“Thank you to all those who supported the Chamber’s fundraising cinema night at The Ritz. We had a great turnout of over 40 people and raised £650 towards this year’s Christmas lights switch-on event,” said a spokesman.

“Several key thank-yous are: Pat and Beryl Scott for the free film screening, Paul Hale for refreshments, Deryk Monaghan, Kay Haines, John and Katherine Edwards for all their help in organising the night, plus Alex Turco at Positive Wealth Creation and Tom Ashton for their fundraising support.”
