Burnham-On-Sea fire and police crews are investigating the cause of a fire which spread through a home in Highbridge early on Tuesday (December 27th).

Three fire engines from Burnham and Bridgwater were sent to the Poplar Estate at 2.51am.

“On their arrival, crews found this was a vacant semi-detached property with smoke issuing from the rear of the first floor,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus.

“There was severe damage to a bedroom, moderate damage to the living room and the whole property was smoke damaged,” added the spokesman.

“There was also smoke damage in the neighbouring property. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
