Firefighters were called to Burnham-On-Sea town centre on Monday morning (March 16th) after a scare at a shop.

Two fire engines were called to David Bull Optometrists in the High Street at 11.45am after staff reported a smell of burning.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the incident had been caused by a hot metal plate, but there was no damage.

Crews made a safety check of the property and stood down.
