Bus users in the Burnham-On-Sea area are being advised to check their journeys ahead of a series of timetable revisions later this month.
First Bus has confirmed the autumn changes will take effect from Sunday August 30th affecting routes in Burnham-On-Sea, Weston‑super‑Mare, Bridgwater and surrounding Somerset communities.
Locally, the changes include the return of winter timetables for the 20 service between Burnham‑On‑Sea and Weston‑super‑Mare which will see reduced frequencies.
“This service will return to its usual winter arrangements with the Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday frequency decreased from every 35-40 minutes to every 65-70 minutes. The Sunday service will be finishing after the half term. The last Sunday of operation will be 1st November 2026,” says a spokesman.
The popular 21a service between Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge, Bridgwater and Taunton will not change its routes or timetables.
Elswehere, First Bus says the 1 service between Sand Bay and Weston‑super‑Mare will see winter schedules introduced. And one of the most significant alterations will be the withdrawal of the 125 and 125s services between Weston‑super‑Mare and Wrington. These routes will be replaced by adjustments to the 126 service and the recently extended U2. The 126, which links Wells and Weston‑super‑Mare, will be rerouted through Locking Village in both directions and will operate to a revised timetable.
The 126 service will also face a six‑week diversion between Cheddar and Wells due to a major road closure. During this period, buses will be unable to serve Draycott, Rodney Stoke, Westbury‑sub‑Mendip and Easton, with passengers in those areas asked to plan alternative travel.
The X14 between Bristol and Weston‑super‑Mare will adopt a new route, serving Abbots Leigh and Pill instead of the Portway, and covering more of Clevedon before continuing towards Worle and Weston. Full details of all changes are available on the First Bus website.
