Fish and chip supper raises funds for Burnham-On-Sea RNLI after lifeboat station visit

-

Members of the Bristol Corinthians Yacht Club have helped raise funds for Burnham-On-Sea RNLI following a special visit to the town’s lifeboat station.

The group had previously enjoyed a talk from Burnham RNLI volunteers in March 2025, and when they invited the crew back for a return visit this year, the RNLI management team instead suggested that the club come to the station for a guided tour.

On 25th March 2026, the visitors were shown around the lifeboats, launch tractors and other rescue equipment before watching the volunteer crew carry out their regular 7.30pm training launch.

Afterwards, the group headed to Burnham-On-Sea Motor Boat and Sailing Club, where an organised fish and chip supper helped raise £250 for the charity. A bucket collection during the evening added further donations.

Sailing club spokesman Karl Evans said: “The professionalism and enthusiasm of the lifeboat volunteers is impressive and they take pride in their lifeboats. We really enjoyed our visit. The fish and chips were tasty and rounded off an excellent evening.”

Lifeboat Operations Manager Matt Davies added: “We enjoy close relations with Burnham Motor Boat and Sailing Club, and were pleased that we were able to host the visiting club. The money raised will go towards keeping our volunteer crew safe at sea.” Burnham-On-Sea RNLI thanked all those who supported the event.
