Burnham-On-Sea youth football teams receive kit boost from councillor

The cheque is handed over alongside the two teamsTwo Burnham-On-Sea youth football teams are celebrating this week after receiving a cash windfall that will help them buy new kit.

County Councillor Mike Facey, who represents Burnham-On-Sea north, handed over a cheque for £500 to the club’s under 15s team manager, Mark Smith, at the club’s training ground at King Alfred Sports Centre.

Mark Smith, Manager of Burnham’s Under 15s team, who is pictured receiving the cheque, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are incredibly grateful for this grant money, which will be used to kit out a whole team for three years. It’s fantastic news for us.”

Cllr Facey added: “I’m very happy to help such a worthwhile group in Burnham, which really helps young people in the area.”

The money is part of the annual £5,000 grants allowance that he and other County Councillors are given to help local community initiatives.
