Burnham-On-Sea was hit by a second day of severe gales on Wednesday when further 60mph gusts and heavy rain swept in.

This street light outside the Bay View cafe on Burnham’s Esplanade was one of several to be damaged along the seafront, requiring council repairs.

The Met Office issued an amber warning, alerting residents of the high winds as the latest storm passed through the region.

It came just one day after another storm caused the roof of a lorry to be blown off on the M5 near Burnham-On-Sea, as we reported here.
