Five Gemini Tae Kwon-Do students, who train at Highbridge’s King Alfred School, were among nearly 450 competitors that attended the South West Championships in Weston earlier this month.

Club instructor Jane Lambert told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was an amazingly friendly atmosphere and everyone enjoyed the day.”

“Watching my students support each other and compete with great sportsmanship was wonderful.”

“They all performed well and I’m proud of each and everyone of them. It was a great warm up for the English Championships in March and we have lots we can improve on.”

Three of the five student came away with bronze medals – Isabelle Froggatt, Stephen Barnshaw, Matthew Palfrey.

Isabelle Froggatt was 3rd in the Girls Middleweight Sparring; Stephen Barnshaw was 3rd in the Mens Welterweight Sparring; and Matthew Palfrey was 3rd in the Mens Heavyweight Sparring.

Classes are held at King Alfred School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Men, women and children of all abilities are welcome. If you’d like to get ‘Fit this February’, go along and give Tae Kwon-Do a try.
