Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow Golf Club members have raised a huge £9,600 for the Friends of Burnham Hospital.

The Club Captains picked the YMCA and The Friends of Burnham Hospital as their two nominated charities of the year and have this week handed over bumper cheques to both.

Ceri Joyce from the Friends told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Throughout last year the captains – Peter Amos and Ladies Captain Jane Moreton, together with Club President David Jenkins and Seniors Captain Ray French – ran many fundraising events.”

“These includes a charity tournament during the summer which The Friends were invited to where we sold craft items, cards and notelets to raise additional funds for the hospital.”

“We also placed our collection buckets in various bunkers around the golf course and anyone landing in the bunker was asked to put £1 in! There were also raffles and a silent auction.”

“Peter Amos and Jane Moreton have this week handed over a cheque for £9,600 to us – a truly outstanding amount of money for the Friends to use on projects within Burnham Hospital.”

“It is not often that anyone leaves Bernard Spilsbury and I speechless but we were amazed at the generosity of the people and golf members within the club and for all the hard work that was put in by Peter and Jane on our behalf.”
