Visitors are being invited to step back through millennia on Sunday 23rd August as National Trust volunteers lead a special guided coastal walk across the dramatic landscape of Brean Down, uncovering the secrets of one of Somerset’s most historic headlands.
The walk begins at 10.30am and will take participants across the sweeping peninsula, where volunteers will bring to life more than 10,000 years of human history.
From evidence of ancient settlements to the remains of Roman temples and the Victorian military defences that once guarded the Bristol Channel, the tour offered a fresh perspective on a landmark familiar to many local residents.
“The experience will reveal Brean Down in a whole new light, blending archaeology, storytelling and coastal scenery into an inspiring morning for history enthusiasts, keen walkers and families alike,” says a spokesperson.
Spaces for the event are limited, and early booking is recommended via this website due to high demand.
Parking is free for National Trust members and £6 for non‑members, and mobility trampers can be booked for visitors needing accessible support.
