Students, families and local supporters came together on Saturday (March 21st) as Highbridge’s King Alfred School Academy hosted its third annual House Bake Off and Macmillan Coffee Morning.
The popular event, led by Mr Paul Shepherd, drew a strong turnout from across the community, with visitors enjoying homemade cakes, hot drinks and the chance to support a good cause. Themed bakes inspired by House colours and school subjects proved a highlight, showcasing the creativity of both students and staff.
Alongside the bake‑off, guests browsed a craft fair, raffle and tombola run by the school’s Community Councillors. The morning raised an impressive £750, with further donations still being added.
Mr Shepherd thanked everyone who contributed, saying: “We would like to thank all the students and staff who baked or brought cakes. We are also grateful to Former Pupils and local supporters who donated eggs or raffle prizes, including Jack Keates (Westcoast Properties), Ellie Wills (Nest Associates), Fraser McDermid (FSM Electrical), Sopha, The Ritz Cinema, and parent Tim Piper (Stag Decking).”
Burnbridge Football Club also lent its support, donating £135 — the full amount raised from its refreshment hut that morning.
Cllr Mike Facey attended the event and judged the cake competition. Among students, Dennis took first place, William and Oliver shared second, and Hannah placed third. In the staff category, Mrs Jones claimed first, followed by Mrs King and Miss Voit.
Adding to the atmosphere, Mr Panter provided a live DJ set throughout the morning.
Organisers say the event once again highlighted the strength of TKASA’s community spirit and the positive impact that comes from working together.
