Dozens of people turned out to watch Highbridge’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday evening (25th November).

The children from Churchfield School’s choir, the Churchfield Voices Choir, sang carols and festive songs outside the Community Hall to get the town’s Christmas season off to a great start.

The ceremony was held besides outside the community centre, next to the town’s Christmas tree, in Market Street, as pictured here.

Mike Murphy, Chairman of Highbridge Chamber of Trade, led the countdown to the lights switch-on alongside Cllr Andy Brewer, second deputy Mayor, and Justin Philcox, the new Churchfields School headteacher.

Mr Murphy told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our thanks go to everyone who come along, especially the Churchfield Voices Choir, who were marvellous. It was a superb festive atmosphere.”

The Community Hall was also open, where 14 craft stalls were set up selling a range of Christmas crafts and merchandise.
