A unique collection of historic photos and videos of Burnham-On-Sea are set to be displayed at an event in the town this week.

The illustrated slideshow of old photographs of Burnham will be given in the Lecture Theatre at King Alfred School this Friday, 3rd March.

Organiser John Strickland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This will be the first public showing of many of the late Glyn Luxon’s images, including the Sea Front and North Esplanade from before 1897; the building of the South Esplanade and Marine Lake in the late 1920s and a video of the opening ceremony by the First Lord of the Admiralty Albert Victor Alexander.”

“There are also images of the Marine Café, the Bandstand and Pier Street car park before the supermarket, a glimpse of war-time Burnham, the Berrow wreck, and the Storm of 13th December 1981 and the subsequent construction of our new sea defences.”

Please note that tickets for this event are now sold out. All proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support.
