Hundreds of bull terriers set to gather in Brean for annual ‘Bullie Bash’ charity weekend

-

Hundreds of bull terriers and their owners are set to head to Brean this weekend for the 15th annual ‘Bullie Bash’, a popular charity event returning to the beach on Saturday 9th May.

The gathering, organised by West Country Bullie Walks, will begin with a mass beach walk at 10.30am starting near the entrance to Unity Beach Holiday Park.

Organisers say all breeds are welcome to join the fun, describing it as “a doggy day out you’ll never forget”, with funds raised supporting bull terriers in rescue.

One regular attendee said the event is a highlight of the year for Bullie lovers, adding that it is “amazing every single time” and creates a special atmosphere for owners and dogs alike.

Saturday afternoon will see a large fair featuring craft stalls, rescue organisations, artists, a BBQ, refreshments, Pimms, a ‘Rainbow Bridge’ tent, doggy massage, music, treats, fancy dress and an auction.

The weekend continues on Sunday with a lively sports day, where owners and their dogs can take part in fun activities including agility challenges and egg‑and‑spoon races.

Last year’s Bullie Bash attracted around 300 bull terriers, with visitors travelling from across the UK as well as France, Austria and the United States. The event raised £16,500, all of which went towards veterinary bills for bull terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers in UK rescue centres.

Organisers say they are hoping for another fantastic turnout this year to support dogs in need.
