The inauguration of a new youth group, Highbridge Adventurer & Pathfinder Club, has been held this month.

The group is one of many around the world overseen by the Seventh Adventist Church.

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Deputy Mayor Cllr Nick Tolley and Deputy Mayoress Cheryl Tolley were among the 200 guests at the launch of the group.

It was held during a District Youth Day of Fellowship at Highbridge Community Centre, featuring Christian music and motivational talks for young people.

“The club provides activities involving action, adventure, challenge, and group activities that provide opportunities for the development of new attitudes and skills,” explains a spokesman.

“These produce personal growth, team and community spirit for children and young adults.”

Also attending were British Union Conference Youth Director Pr. Dejan Stojkovic, Burnham and Highbridge Brass Band, Young musicians from the South West, South England Conference Drum Corps, Adventurers and Pathfinders from Highbridge, Taunton, Yeovil and Chard, plus members from the local community.

Highbridge Adventurer & Pathfinder Club meets every second Saturday of the month between 2 and 5pm at Morland Community Hall in Pearce Drive, off Morland Road in Highbridge.  Call 07779231211 for more.
