Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser Jason Vickers has met his target of raising £20,000 for charity this weekend.

Jason held a collection on Saturday (May 28th) for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the foyer of Burnham’s Tesco store.

He managed to collect £377.30 through the day, pushing his grand total to a mammoth £20,291.

“I am so pleased to have reached my £20,000 target – I have had so much great support from customers,” said Jason.

“I have managed to collect £1,899 this year thanks to the backing of local supporters.”

Jason, who works at Burnham’s Tesco supermarket, will be taking part in the Great North Run this September and also hopes to compete in several other half marathons this year.

The plucky runner, who suffers from Crohn’s Disease, added: “I love running and have completed 47 half marathons since 1987 and hope to do my 50th this year.”

“I would like to thank all my supporters locally for all their support and everyone at Tesco in Burnham for their encouragement.”

Burnham-On-Sea Tesco Manager Rob Miller added: “Jason is one of our real stars. What he has raised for charity is really exceptional.”
