A key route through Brean is set to close for almost six months over the autumn and winter as major water main renovation work gets under way.
Somerset Council has announced the temporary closure of Church Road, South Road and Coast Road, affecting a 2,176‑metre stretch running from the junction with Weston Road southwards through the village.
The order states that the work is due to begin on 5th October 2026 and continue until 19th March 2027, meaning the road could be shut for more than five months while the project is completed.

The closure will enable work to replace an old water main on behalf of Bristol Water to go ahead.
The council says an alternative route will be signposted with traffic diverted along different roads.
Residents and motorists seeking information about the works can contact Bristol Water on 0345 702 3797 quoting reference ttro126276N.
