Kind-hearted gymnasts in Highbridge raise funds for Spina Bifida sufferer Tilly, 9

-

Kind-hearted young gymnasts from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are raising funds to help one of their team mates who suffers from Spina Bifida and faces a major operation in the New Year.

Tilly Garrod, 9, is a member of Monarchs Gymnastics and a specialist team of surgeons will be operating on her spine in January.

“Tilly is an amazing little girl and has overcome many obstacles along the way to be able to achieve great things at the club,” Mandy Warburton from the Monarchs told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The club has supported the charity Shine for Spina Bifida’s awareness week by wearing something yellow all week.”

Mandy added: “Monarchs would like to thank everyone that has donated this week, we have currently raised almost £200 which is brilliant.”

Spina bifida occurs when a baby’s spine and spinal cord don’t develop properly in the womb, causing a gap in the spine.

Shine for Spina Bifida provides specialist advice and support for spina bifida and hydrocephalus across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
