Police in Burnham-On-Sea are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was assaulted and robbed of a laptop computer in the town on Monday (March 19th).

At around 4.30pm the victim, who had his arm in a sling, was sat at the bus stop in Pier Street (pictured right) using his white Apple Mac G4 laptop.

He was then approached by an unknown male who grabbed the laptop and ran off across the near by Somerfield supermarket car park.

The victim gave chase, caught the offender and began to struggle with him, but was then dragged off by a second attacker.

The first male then punched the victim, before both attackers made good their escape.

PC Adam Leighton-Price told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The first attacker was a white male in his early 20s, 6ft tall with light brown hair and wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up, baseball cap and blue jeans.”

“Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the theft or may recognise the offenders involved.”

“The incident happened in a busy part of Burnham and it is thought people walking on the nearby Esplanade or at the top of Burnham High Street may have information to help police enquiries.”

Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered the laptop for sale. Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
