Wedding guests in the village of Mark near Burnham-On-Sea were treated to a sight they are unlikely to forget at the weekend when bride Victoria Lee arrived at her ceremony riding one of her own cows.
The 37‑year‑old farmer said she wanted her Swiss cow, White Chocolate Button, to be part of her big day because “she is pretty much my best friend.”
Victoria, who grew up on her family’s farm in Dorset, said she has been riding cows since childhood after being told she couldn’t have a pony.
When planning her wedding, she decided White Chocolate Button should carry her to the church. She explained that she had also tried to train another cow, Basil, but “she didn’t want to do it… she tried to roll me off,” so the idea was quickly abandoned.
White Chocolate Button is no stranger to attention at the farm, having previously taken part in Halloween festivities. “She gets a bed sheet put over her with eyes and ears cut out, so she’s used to being dressed up,” Victoria said.
The bride was taken to Mark village on a tractor before making the final part of the journey on her cow, flanked by her bridesmaids as they made their way to the church.
After the ceremony, groomsmen formed a guard of honour outside, holding aloft a selection of farming tools to celebrate the newlyweds.
While guests headed to the reception, Victoria and her husband Mike returned to the farm to milk the cows, leaving friends and family to entertain themselves for a couple of hours.
The couple later rejoined the celebrations — though White Chocolate Button stayed behind at the farm for a well‑earned rest!
