Floral bouquets will be appearing around the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Friday) to mark ‘Lonely Bouquet Day’.

Local flower arrangers from Burnham Area Evening Flower Club will be leaving nine bouquets in Highbridge, Brent Knoll, West Huntspill, Mark and Berrow to celebrate one for every 10 years of the Queen’s life.

Diane Barnard from the club explained: “There are 60,000 National Association of Flower Arrangement members who celebrate National Flower Arranging Day by leaving a Lonely Bouquet in the street for people to pick up and take home to cheer the day.”

“This is the third year this event has been done but is the first year our Club has participated, previously we have arranged a pedestal in the Princess Theatre, but this year we have been specifically asked to do nine arrangements to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday.”

Burnham Area Evening Flower Club meets on the third Monday of the month at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall.
