An air ambulance landed in a field next to the M5 motorway between Burnham-On-Sea and Weston on Wednesday (November 1st) to help a motorist after a crash.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 22 was temporarily shut after a car overturned following a collision with another vehicle.

The Great Western Air Ambulance was called to the scene and landed in a field next to the motorway, as pictured above, for its specialist team of paramedics to help.

Avon and Somerset Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called just after 11.30am to a collision where one vehicle had overturned.”

“A man was treated by ambulance crews and an air ambulance crew.”

The motorist was understood to be in a stable condition.

The motorway fully re-opened after the vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder, as pictured here. Motorists faced long delays following the incident.
