Police and fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called to the M5 motorway on Thursday evening (December 15th) after a car left the carriageway.

Emergency services were called to the M5 northbound between junction 22 for Burnham-On-Sea and junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare at 5.15pm.

One fire appliance from Burnham-On-Sea and one fire appliance from Bridgwater were sent to the scene.

“The fire service received a call to a vehicle that had left the carriageway and was emitting a smell of burning,” said a spokesman.

“Fire crews confirmed this was a single vehicle road traffic collision with one vehicle that had left the carriageway and gone through a hedge.”

All persons were free and clear of the vehicle and crews made the vehicle safe and left the incident in the hands of Police.
