Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor is to hold a fundraising evening with a coastal theme tonight (Saturday).

Cllr Bill Hancock’s event is being held in aid of his three charities of the year – the rescue services BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham RNLI plus Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset.

His support of the charities ties in with his Mayoral theme for the year, ‘clean and safe local Beaches’.

“The aim is to make sure that the coastline is a safe place for residents and visitors to enjoy as well as being as clean and free of litter and pollution as possible,” he explains.

“The charities are also working hard to raise awareness of these issues and any funding they receive will help with campaigns, training and equipment.”

The Mayor’s fundraising event will be held at 7pm at the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge tonight.

There will be live music from the band Monopole, plus food, raffle and an auction. Tickets are £10 per person to include a basket meal.

An experienced auctioneer will also encourage guests to bid high to donate funds to help these important groups.

To attend the event, contact 01278 788088 or 01278 782216 to book a ticket.
