The outgoing landlords at Burnham-On-Sea’s Lighthouse Inn have been formally thanked by the town’s Mayor for their dedicated charity fundraising during their three and a half years at the helm.
Landlords Sophie Long and Dan Hodge are preparing to leave the popular pub on Highbridge Road, bringing an end to a tenure marked by regular community events and thousands of pounds raised for local good causes.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Mike Facey visited the pair this week to personally thank them for their efforts in supporting his chosen charity of the year, In Charley’s Memory, as well as Hillview Carnival Club.
He praised the couple and their customers for their commitment to fundraising, saying they had “done a great job in raising money for these charities over the past few years,” adding that he wished them well as they move on to new opportunities.
Sophie said she was grateful for the support shown by regulars and the wider community, explaining that she and Dan will soon be starting a new venture in Tewkesbury after an exciting opportunity arose.
