Mental Health Awareness Café to return to St Andrew’s Church next week

-

St Andrew’s Church in Burnham-On-Sea will once again host a Mental Health Awareness Café next week as part of National Mental Health Awareness Week, following the success of last year’s event. The café will run from 10am–1pm on Wednesday 13th May inside the church building.

Several local organisations offering mental health support will be present with stalls, sharing information about services available across Burnham-On-Sea and the surrounding area. Visitors will be able to browse resources, chat with representatives and learn more about the help on offer.

Rev Sharon Eldergill, Associate Vicar of St Andrew’s, said the church is pleased to be involved again, describing the event as an important opportunity for the community to come together.

She said St Andrew’s aims to provide “a community city space where people can come together and explore available mental health resources in and around Burnham and surrounding areas,” adding that Burnham is “a great place to live” and that positive community connections play a vital role in wellbeing.

The café will feature stalls from several local charities, including Somewhere House Somerset, Men’s Shed, Mind in Somerset and the Recovery Café, alongside organisations from further afield such as SWEDA and SANDS.

Creative mindfulness crafts will be available to try, and local musicians will perform uplifting songs throughout the morning, with opportunities for visitors to join in or simply enjoy the music.

Organisers say they hope many people will drop in for coffee, cake and conversation. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
