Met Office warns of heavy rain and high winds in Burnham-On-Sea area today

A weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for today (Friday, June 7th) covering the whole of Somerset, including the Burnham-On-Sea area. 

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms with heavy rain has been issued as Storm Miguel sweeps through.

The warning period runs from 2pm to 11pm today and The Met Office is warning that flooding is possible, and transport services may be affected, with a risk of interruption to power supplies. 

The Burnham-On-Sea weather forecast Up to 20mm of rain could fall in a hour at the height of the storm.

A Met Office spokesman says: “Cloud and outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will arrive from the south, with increasing winds.”

“Cloud and rain, heavy at times, will sweep north across all parts through Friday. Turning brighter and showery for some during the afternoon and turning increasingly windy later.”

Maximum temperatures will be 16 °C.

It will stay windy on Saturday, with sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy in places.
