Police, Coastguards, a lifeboat and a BARB rescue hovercraft were called out on Thursday (June 5th) in a search for a missing person in Burnham-On-Sea.
Coastguards said there was concern for the welfare of a missing woman and therefore a full search had been undertaken.
A BARB spokesperson said: “BARB’s volunteers were called out by Coastguards on Thursday June 5th at 4.55pm to assist in the search for a missing vulnerable person.”
“Our Spirit Of Lelaina 3 hovercraft was launched by our crew on Burnham beach and was tasked with carrying out a search of the shoreline between Burnham and Brean Down.”
“Several foot searches were also launched along the seafront alongside Coastguards from Burnham and Weston.”
“After more than an hour of searching, crews received the good news that they could stand down as Police confirmed the person had been located safe and well. This was another positive multi-agency incident with a good outcome.”
A Burnham RNLI spokesman added: “We launched our D class lifeboat, Burnham Reach, in the early morning and carried out a shoreline search towards the lower light, then were requested to search the lower reaches of the River Brue, before being stood down for recovery to the lifeboat station.”
