Mobile phone coverage in the Brean area could soon be boosted after plans were unveiled this week for a new mast.

It comes after Vodafone customers in the Highbridge area continue to suffer reception problems, which were first featured last December by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.

Vodafone Limited has submitted plans for a new mast on land to the east of the Cable and Wireless Transatlantic Cable Landing Station in South Road, Brean.

The 15m high mast will house four antennae and one 0.3m dish, plus three additional cabinets, replacing an existing 12.5m high mast, for the shared use of O2 and Vodafone.

Meanwhile, several mobile phone users in the Burnham, Highbridge and West Huntspill areas are still suffering reception problems which the networks are hoping to address.
