Increased charges for motorists to park on Brean and Berrow beaches have been introduced this week.
Somerset Council says the new charges came into force from April 2nd in time for the Easter tourist season.
“We review our charges and fees every year and can confirm there is a slight rise in beach parking charges which will apply from April 2nd when the sites open for the summer,” a council spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The new charges will see cars able to park on Brean or Berrow beach for £8.40 (up from £8 last year) or £4.20 after 2.30pm (up from £4 last year).
The new charge for horse boxes and motorhomes is £13 (up from £12.50 last year).
The new charge for horse transporters, large motorhomes and coaches will be £20.30 (up from £19.50 last year).
And the new charge for windsurfers, kite surfers and other wind-powered water sports (per vehicle) is £4.20, up from £4 last year.
Meanwhile, the tariff for Brean and Berrow residents to park on the beach at £4.20 (up from £4 last year).
The annual parking pass for cars (per vehicle) is £85.70, up from £82.50 last year.
Disabled fees for Cars with Disabled Badge Holders (per vehicle) is £3.20 (up from £3). Disabled Berrow and Brean Residents can park at £2.10 (up from £2). Horse Box and motorhomes for Disabled Badge Holder (per vehicle) will be £5.20 (up from £5). The fee for a Horse Transporter Disabled Badge Holder is £8.40 (up from £8). The annual Parking Pass for Disabled Badge Holders (per vehicle) is £62.30 (up from £60).
It comes as Somerset County Council is needing to making huge financial changes to try and balance its books. The two beaches will be open to motorists daily from 10am-6pm.
