Cider theme bar opens to strong start at Unity Beach in Brean

-

A new bar celebrating Somerset’s long‑established cider‑making heritage has opened to a busy start at Unity Beach in Brean.

The Cider House, situated near the Wonkey Donkey pub and restaurant at the Coast Road family holiday park, has been welcoming customers keen to sample its range of locally produced ciders.

The venue is showcasing what it describes as some of the finest large‑scale and artisan producers in Somerset, with a line‑up that includes well‑known names such as Thatcher’s, Rich’s, Lilley’s, Harry’s, Broadoaks, Wilkins and Sheppy’s. A full bar is also available, but the owners say the focus remains firmly on cider, supported by a grazing‑style food menu, live sports and regular music events. A rotating selection of guest ciders is planned throughout the year.

The bar is family‑ and dog‑friendly, offering an additional social space for both holidaymakers and local residents. It enjoyed strong support over the Bank Holiday weekend following its opening.

Food and beverage manager Nick Tyrell, pictured, says: “It’s been a really busy start to the new bar – the focus on great Somerset ciders is proving popular.”

Unity Beach resort director Jonny Green said Somerset’s cider‑making tradition stretches back centuries and remains an important part of the county’s identity. He added that the aim of the new venue is to celebrate that heritage while giving visitors the chance to explore the wide variety of cider produced locally.

The Cider House is open to anyone in the area who would like to stop by and sample the range.
