A new waste collection and removals business has been launched in Highbridge by a local resident who says he wants to support people across the Burnham-On-Sea area with reliable, stress‑free services.
Salway Services has been set up by Highbridge’s Callum Salway, who grew up in the town and attended The King Alfred School. After trying several career options he decided to start his own business.
The company provides domestic and commercial waste clearances, man with a van services, house removals, garden and garage clearances, construction waste removal and site clear-ups across Somerset.
Salway Services is fully certified and a licensed waste carrier.
Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Callum said he wanted to create a business that offered a reliable local service while helping people through what can often be stressful situations. Having found it difficult to cope with stress himself he wanted to create a easy solution for local people to solve their removal needs.
“I’ve grown up in Highbridge and went to a local school, so this community means a lot to me,” he says. “I’ve had my own struggles with mental health and confidence, but I decided to take a chance on myself and start my own business — and it’s already getting busy, which is fantastic.
“I wanted to build something of my own that helps people, whether they’re moving house, clearing a property or simply need unwanted waste taken away. We know those jobs can be difficult, so we aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.
“I’m already working with local businesses and residents to build up my customer base, and I’m really keen to help people in the local community with their waste removal needs or Man with a Van services.
“It’s important to me to build a business that people locally can trust, while also giving something back to the community I grew up in.”
Callum adds: “The business is a fully licensed waste carrier. By using a licensed carrier customers are helping reduce the amount of fly tipping that is happening at the moment due to non-waste carrier licenses and other people that claim to clear waste without the official paperwork.”
The new company is based in Highbridge and covers Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and surrounding areas.
