A new book featuring the fascinating history of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s pubs and hotels has been launched this week.

Author Jane Mann launched the book at an unveiling at Burnham-On-Sea library, as pictured here.

The publication, costing £12, features images of pubs from over the decades in Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge and the surrounding area.

“This is my second book on local pubs, the first featured pubs in Bridgwater and the next will be focussed on Taunton,” Jane told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Pubs, coaching inns and hotels in and around Burnham have wonderful histories and fascinating stories, many of which are featured.”

“I have a great interest in local history. The Burnham area has a rich history – there have been at least 16 pubs in Highbridge alone over the years!”

£1 from each of the sale of the book will be donated to BARB Search and Rescue in Burnham-On-Sea, which operates two rescue hovercrafts and two inshore rescue boats.

The book will be available at local book shops and the BARB Search & Rescue hovercraft station on Burnham seafront from November 13th.
