A new support group for local people living with asthma and lung conditions is set to launch in Burnham-On-Sea this month.
The Burnham and Highbridge Asthma & Lung UK Support Group will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, March 31st, running from 10am to 12.30pm at Rosewood Communal Hall.
The group will then continue on the last Tuesday of every month.
Organisers say the free monthly sessions will offer a friendly, welcoming space for anyone affected by lung disease, along with their families or carers.
Each meeting will feature guest speakers, including dieticians and respiratory teams, who will share advice and answer questions.
Local organisers Emily Beaven and Kim Chatwin, pictured, say the new group fills an important gap in the area.
“It’s important to me personally, as I suffer with a lung condition myself,” Kim told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“I noticed there was no support group locally — the nearest one was in Bath — so I wanted to help create something here for our community.”
Residents living with asthma or any other lung condition are invited to attend. The group is being supported by Asthma + Lung UK, the national charity for people with lung conditions.
