Pupils from a Burnham-On-Sea school celebrated their final day of term with a surprise bus tour around the town.

To mark their last day at St Andrew’s Junior School, 36 Year six students were whisked off for a celebratory open-top bus tour of Burnham and Brean.

“They were hoodwinked into going to the Dunstan Inn where they thought they were going to have a ‘sophisticated’ glass of alcohol-free pink champagne, but instead they were met by a beautiful vintage open-top double decker bus and taken for a ride along the seafront and down to Brean and back,” said a school spokeswoman.

“Their rendition of ‘The Wheels on The Bus Go Round and Round’ was met with much amusement by the many people who stopped to check out the racket!”

“Many thanks to Quantock Heritage Buses who stepped in at the last moment after another company had a last minute break down.”
