Over 150 enjoy uplifting Spring Concert by Burnham & Highbridge Choral Society

-

Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Mike Facey joined over 150 people at St Andrew’s Church in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening (2nd May) for Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society’s well‑attended Spring Concert.

The evening featured a rich programme of music, with the soaring elegance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass performed alongside a specially arranged medley from Les Misérables. The choir sang under the direction of Musical Director James Davies, accompanied by pianist Mike Wager.

They were joined by four professional soloists — Soprano Siona Stockel, Countertenor Simon Clulow, Tenor Matthew Minter and Bass Christopher Sheldrake — together with an orchestral ensemble, creating an uplifting night of live music.

Society member Jane Finch said the concert was “very well received by the audience” and praised the collaboration with the orchestra. “It was particularly lovely to work with them — it took the Mozart Coronation Mass to another level for us,” she said.

Refreshments were served during the interval, adding to what many described as a warm and enjoyable community event. The society continues to welcome new members and supporters as it prepares for future performances.
