Over £3,000 raised for Burnham’s BARB rescue hovercraft charity at Lympsham fundraising ball

-

Over £3,000 was raised for Burnham-On-Sea rescue hovercraft charity BARB Search & Rescue during a fundraising ball on Friday evening (September 25th).

Over 80 people attended the black tie event at the Batch Country House in Lympsham, which featured a three-course dinner, dancing and live music from local band Six Machine.

A raffle and auction were also held during the evening to raise funds for Burnham’s long-running hovercraft charity, which operates life-saving rescue hovercrafts along the coastline.

Guests were also able to have photos taken alongside the BARB hovercraft, which was on display outside the venue, and meet some of the charity’s volunteers. A video shown at the start of the evening also featured BARB’s history and the work of its volunteers.

A BARB spokesman said: “A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended and supported this ball, which was a huge success. It was a fun night with a great turnout and we greatly appreciate the support, raising £3,092 towards training and equipment. A special thank you goes to BARB volunteer Matt Weekes who organised the event so professionally.”

BARB Search & Rescue is a volunteer-run charity that operates rescue hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat in the Bridgwater Bay area.
