Nearly 100 athletes of all ages competed in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual autumn aquathlon and ‘splash and dash’ event on Sunday (September 29th).

The popular event, organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, comprised of a 500 metre swim at Burnham Pool followed by a 5km run along the seafront for the adults while the children completed a shorter ‘splash and dash’ event.

Around 70 children took part in the Splash N Dash event while 25 competitors completed the aquathlon.

Organiser Sarah Cox Conklin said the event had been another success and thanked all those who had turned out to support the event.

“Many congratulations go to all competitors in the Splash N Dash and Aquathlon. Some extremely fast swim and run times were posted. Huge thanks go to our exceptional volunteers, marshalls and event crew for hosting a wonderful event and to all parents, friends and supporters for providing a fantastic atmosphere for our athletes.
